Client:

Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Description:

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) recently initiated a major upgrade of the Haystack Radar facility. The upgrade program is jointly sponsored by the United States Air Force and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. The facility is used as a radio-telescope to conduct research for the United States Space Surveillance Command for education activities conducted by MIT. Meridian Associates provided complete site planning, design development; permit support and construction documentation for a significant addition to this unique facility. Although appearing simple at initial glance, the site design and engineering proved to be complicated by existing infrastructure systems, the movement capabilities of facilities components and an aggressive completion schedule.
