Case Study

Salisbury Hill
Worcester, Massachusetts

Client:

Bailin Associates

Description:

Salisbury Hill is a new residential community designed for the 55 and older generation. The landscape architects at Meridian Associates worked closely with the project architect and civil engineers to achieve the functional and aesthetic goals established by the project proponent. One critical design element was the entrance experience. The goal was to create an entrance that effectively transitioned people into the community from the adjacent roadway while establishing the overall design theme for the development. This goal was accomplished by using native materials to construct walls, fencing, plantings and a water feature that announced the arrival to Salisbury Hill. Additionally, small open-space parks are located throughout the individual neighborhoods.
