Case Study

Bell Pond Park
Worcester, Massachusetts

City of Worcester Parks & Recreation Commission

Beginning in 2004, the Worcester Parks & Recreation Commission embarked on a focused effort to upgrade the various public parks and playgrounds located throughout the City. Bell Pond Park was selected as an area that needed immediate attention.
Surrounded by a densely populated neighborhood, the 30-year old park was in dire need of facility upgrades and improvements.

The Commission contracted with Meridian Associates to complete master planning, design development, permitting and construction documentation to support renovation of the Park. Neighborhood groups were intimately involved in the planning and design of improvements. Following a challenging phased construction effort, the Park has once again become a focal point of resident activity where various neighborhood active and passive recreation needs
are met.
