Public Infrastructure

Public infrastructure is the basic facilities, services and installations needed for a community to function. A community’s quality of life, economic health and vitality depend on a sound infrastructure that can support the needs of the current community as wells as the demands of growth and development.

Meridian has assisted communities as well as state and federal agencies and their consultants and contractors to assess, maintain, rehabilitate and expand the full spectrum of the public infrastructure.

Meridian's community development, capital improvement and public works improvement projects have included sewer, water and storm drain facilities; streets; sidewalks; streetscapes; parking facilities; bike paths and multi-use trails; parks and recreational facilities; renewable energy initiatives; and site work for public buildings such as government offices, schools, public safety facilities, libraries and public works facilities.

In addition, Meridian has provided project management services to help its public sector clients implement building related projects. These have included building condition assessments, building envelope surveys, and associated improvements.

Meridian provides a wide range of services to its public sector clients including:

  • Land surveys and preparation of existing conditions plans

Municipalities must balance community growth and development with environmental, regulatory, and public health concerns - all within tight budget constraints. It takes vision to meet the future demands of population increases and economic development while maintaining community values.

Since 1990, we have partnered with municipalities of all sizes - from large urbanized cities to small rural communities - to meet their civil engineering needs with tailored, cost-effective, and practical solutions. We are committed to doing what it takes to make each project a success, whether it’s using new technology to optimize operations and reduce costs or leveraging funding sources to help municipalities achieve compliance.

Responsible and Environmental Sustainable Development

The World Commission on Environment and Development defines environmental sustainable development as "development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Sustainable development implies economic growth together with the protection of environmental quality, each reinforcing the other."
