Meridian Associates Assists Clients with Wind Turbine Acquisition

BEVERLY, Mass. - Meridian Associates is helping to bring two large-scale wind turbines to the North Shore of Massachusetts. One turbine, a 1.5-MW SLE acquired from General Electric, will help power the Town of Ipswich. Working with the town's municipal electric department, Meridian performed the feasibility analysis for the project and is now preparing permit applications, site design, and fielding construction bids. The second turbine, a 600 kW unit manufactured by India-based Elecon Engineering, will help power Mark Richey Woodworking in Newburyport.

After careful review of worldwide turbine producers, and in consideration of the problem of increasing turbine scarcity, Elecon/Turbowinds was selected for the Newburyport project. So thorough was the review process that Meridian's Don Bowen, Jr. traveled to India to meet with Elecon executives, inspect turbine operations in the field, tour the assembly plant, and meet the blade supplier. Click here to read Don's first-hand account of the journey and to learn his conclusions about Elecon as a manufacturer of quality wind turbines.
