Meridian Associates, Inc. was retained by BlueWave Solar to provide environmental, civil engineering, permitting, and construction services related to the design and construction of two solar energy generating facilities.


BlueWave executed lease options with Knowlton Farm Nominee Trust to develop two solar energy facilities on their 75-acre parcel of farmland in Grafton, MA. The 6.2± Megawatt solar development consisted of two Phases: a 2.4± Megawatt system and later a 3.7± Megawatt system. The area was comprised mostly of agricultural land and hay fields.


Meridian coordinated the services of environmental, geotechnical and solar design consultants to identify proper siting of the array in accordance with regulatory agencies. Meridian assisted with civil site design issues during the development of the site plan/design including site grading, stormwater mitigation, sediment and erosion control, and construction details. Meridian performed soil testing at areas proposed for stormwater mitigation, completed a Request for Determination with Conservation, submitted Special Permit and Site Plan Approval Applications to the Town of Grafton Planning Board, and successfully obtained the first Stormwater Management Permit (for Phase 1) under the Town of Grafton’s Stormwater Management By-Law. Meridian prepared an ALTA/ACSM Land Title Survey to reflect existing site features and supporting surveyor’s report. Meridian’s prepared and issued Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans for the proposed construction activities. Meridian provided survey control services, construction support and a detailed as-builts.
