Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute

Gloucester, Massachusetts

Meridian Associates provided site design and engineering consulting services to the design-builder, Windover Development for the repurposing of an existing commercial wharf and boat yard into a headquarters facility for the Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute (GMGI). Located in Gloucester’s historically significant seaport, GMGI is the world's first research facility dedicated to marine genomics providing innovative research and education to address critical challenges facing our oceans, human health and the environment.

Meridian leveraged its long history with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection Waterways Division to re-design the site and navigate the entitlement process, securing the Waterways Chapter 91 License for this waterfront property change of use and establishing GMGI as allowable use for the redevelopment.
